My Thoughts

My thoughts are mine! Aren’t they?

One of Jane’s favorite expressions is, “I knew you were going to say that.” She loves to make me think she knows everything I’m thinking or that I’m going to say. I have to admit, she gets pretty close. But she’s not always right.

Wouldn’t that be scary if someone actually knew our every thought?

Well, guess what? We just might need to be scared.

Jesus demonstrated his ability to read minds when he healed the paralytic in Matthew 9. The scribes “said to themselves.” They were thinking thoughts about Jesus blaspheming. Jesus told them exactly what they were thinking.

David writes Psalm 139 describing the reality of God knowing everything about him, and us. “Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, you know it altogether.”

Scary stuff. Or is it?

God knows every single thing there is to know about us.

Yet, he loves us.

He wants to forgive us.

He wants us to be with him.

Maybe if we remembered he already knows everything about us, it might help us to be more serious about living for him.
