I Voted
I voted today. I took advantage of the right given to me as a citizen of this country to cast my vote for those who will lead our nation, state and county. I was even given a sticker to declare to others that I had voted.
It was only one vote, but it was my vote. I had a choice and I made the choice.
Voting and choosing are not just an occurrence every two or four years. We vote and choose every day of our life.
We choose to be kind or we choose to be unkind. Often doing both in the same day.
We choose to notice the needs of others and offer help or we choose to pay no attention to the needs of others.
We choose to be guided by the will of God or we choose not to be guided by his will. Often choosing differently based on our feelings at the moment or the desires we allow to control us.
We choose. We vote.
The comedian, Flip Wilson, had a funny routine with his line, “The Devil made me do it”. But he was wrong. God does not allow the Devil to control us. He is allowed to lie to us, tempt us, and encourage us in our wrong desires by making them look and seem so appealing. But we are the ones who choose. We vote the direction we will go.
The Devil did not make Adam and Eve eat the forbidden fruit. He lied and persuaded, but he could not make. They chose. They decided. They voted. So do we.
Be careful how you vote and choose.
