Psalm 1:1-2 Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night.
Do not walk. Do not go along with people who live as if there is no God. Don’t pay attention to their counsel. Don’t pay attention to their advice about how we should live our lives. Sometimes even from people who may call themselves Christians, but they don’t live like there is a God. The Psalmist probably had a few people in mind, those who were in the temple on Saturday, but the rest of the week lived in a manner opposite of God’s way. He is not saying that we don’t need to associate with them, but he is saying that we need to avoid their ideas and advice about living. You will be blessed when you ignore the advice of people who live like there is no God. Crossing ways with a bear or a lion or a snake can be fatal. That’s why we need to avoid those things. If we see one of those wild animals we don’t walk along with them, instead we go the opposite way. Your life will be so much better when we walk with the Lord instead of the counsel of the wicked.
