Judges 16:28-30 “Then Samson prayed to the Lord, “Sovereign Lord, remember me. Please, God, strengthen me just once more, and let me with one blow get revenge on the Philistines for my two eyes.”
A life of bad decisions can lead to bad consequences. Samson is a good example for us today. He was chosen before he was born to do great things. God set some rules for him to follow, Samson followed some, but other rules he would not follow. I don’t know why he didn’t follow them, but what we know is that he didn’t obey God in all His ways and paid the consequences. He was captured, beaten and his eyes were plucked out.
From this story we can learn so many life applications today. We can look at how people will follow some of God’s commands and choose to ignore other commands. Consequences come often when we listen to the world instead of God. The worlds’ advice always seems to be to choose what we want to do. The lesson I want to focus on is that God gave Samson a second chance although he didn’t deserve it. God saw a contrite and broken heart in Samson. God can help us to be clean once more. Similarly to Samson, we don’t deserve a second chance either, because we fail to follow all of God’s commands. We sometimes choose the ways of sin instead of God’s ways, but God is willing to give us another chance. We need to approach Him with a broken and contrite heart.
