1 Samuel 12:14, 24,25
If you will fear the Lord and serve Him, and listen to His voice and not rebel against the command of the Lord, then both you and also the king who reigns over you will follow the Lord your God. 24Only fear the Lord and serve Him in truth with all your heart; for consider what great things He has done for you. 25 But if you still do wickedly, both you and your king will be swept away.”
This quarter I’m teaching the life of king Saul. There is so much to learn from the life of this man, and I hate to say that what I learned most is what not to do. He was a great young person. He was humble and not too confident, but something changed that turned him into a different person. Throughout the life of king Saul, there is a theme that keeps popping up. Fear God and serve him. This was God’s command to the king and the people, but they both failed to do this and paid the consequences.
The story of Saul reminds me, not how we start, but how we finish that matters. If you want to add to that…the manner in which we finish will say a lot about who we are. God wants us to finish in our Christian walk. We all have started our Christian walk. Let’s make sure we finish!
