Deacons likewise must be men of dignity, not double-tongued, or addicted to much wine or fond of sordid gain, 9 but holding to the mystery of the faith with a clear conscience. 10 These men must also first be tested; then let them serve as deacons if they are beyond reproach. 11 Women must likewise be dignified, not malicious gossips, but temperate, faithful in all things. 12 Deacons must be husbands of only one wife, and good managers of their children and their own households. 13 For those who have served well as deacons obtain for themselves a high standing and great confidence in the faith that is in Christ Jesus.
(1 Timothy 3:8-13)
With Paul’s direction to Timothy in mind, the eldership proposes to add Brother Bobby Frye as our A/V deacon and to add Brother Tom Phifer in our Children’s Ministry.
If anyone has any concern or comments regarding either of these two gentlemen, we would ask that you discuss it with any elder between now and Sunday, December 10, 2017.
We would also like to inform you that we will be transitioning two of our current deacons:
1. Keith Strickland from our Children’s Ministry to our Youth and Family Ministry to work with our teens.
2. David Driskell who is currently in our Family Touch Ministry will also be assisting in our Children’s Ministry.
It is truly a blessing to be part of a church where so many of our body are willing to serve as God has instructed and encouraged.
We ask your prayers as we as a congregation of the Lord’s church undertake this effort.
