“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16 ESV)
By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers. (1 John 3:16 ESV)
James Rowe wrote a beautiful song tying Jesus lifting Peter from the angry waves of the Sea of Galilee to God lifting us from the death of our sin by the death of Jesus on the cross.
His second verse of the song gives a beautiful picture of our faith response to that amazing love.
“All my heart to him I give,
Ever to Him I’ll cling,
In His blessed presence live,
Ever his praises sing,
Love so mighty and so true Merits my soul’s best songs;
Faithful, loving service, too, To Him belongs.”
