Paul quotes the prophet Joel when he says, “Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (Romans 10:13)
“Calling on the Lord” refers to more than just praying, because Paul himself was told, “Get up and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on His name.” (Acts 22:16)
But back to Romans, Paul then raises some questions.
“How can they call on Him in whom they have not believed?“
“How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard?”
“So faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.” (Romans 10:17)
“So faith out of (from) hearing and hearing by (through) the word of Christ” (God in some manuscripts).
So how do we get faith? By listening to what God says.
How do we grow a stronger faith? By listening to what God says.
Hearing or listening to God is a vital part of our walk with God. It is an absolute essential.
