Eclipse

An eclipse is an exciting thing. It was evident Monday at about 2:00 p.m. when I was driving back to the office from making some visits. The traffic was minimal. I even saw several vehicles pulling off the road to catch a glimpse of the moon covering the sun.

I even tried to get a glimpse myself. For me, the cloud cover was not helpful. Or, perhaps it was. I really didn’t have proper viewing glasses and my sunglasses were very likely not sufficient if I had a clear view.

But not all eclipses are good things.

What do we allow to come between us and studying God’s word or following the will of God?

How many things distract us from assembling with God’s body?

What are the things we will put ahead of doing the things we know God wants us to do?

These are the eclipses of personal choice.

God has warned us about submitting to them multiple times.

Here is one of them:

But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. (Matthew 6:33 ESV)
