Mark 8: 15 And he cautioned them, saying, “Watch out; beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the leaven of Herod”. (ESV)
Jesus was trying to teach His disciples about the influence of bad people in our lives. However, the disciples were thinking that Jesus was getting on to them for not bringing bread. I believe, sometimes, we may confuse what Jesus is trying to teach us, as well. We can get too involved in our own opinions and ideas and forget the message we are to convey to the world.
We need to show Jesus to others. But, we cannot do it based on our political views or religious views. Jesus warned his disciples to be aware, and so should we. Beware that we don’t teach Jesus as a political stance. Politics should never define who Jesus is and what He does. Religion, as an institution, should not define what we believe about Jesus, either. IF we want to know Jesus, we need to read the Bible for ourselves. That was God’s intention from the beginning of time. He speaks to us through His Word. Don’t listen to politicians or those claiming religion that is not based on what God says. Listen to His Son. Listen to Jesus.
