Exodus 17: 11-13 So it came about when Moses held his hand up, that Israel prevailed, and when he let his hand down, Amalek prevailed. 12 But Moses’ hands were heavy. Then they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it; and Aaron and Hur supported his hands, one on one side and one on the other. Thus his hands were steady until the sun set. 13 So Joshua overwhelmed Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword.”
We will always give God the credit for the victory in battle. As you can see here, you need friends to help you succeed. Then, there is this rock. Moses’ arms were tired, his legs were going to be even more tired after a couple of hours of standing in the sun. So here they go looking for a rock that could be useful for Moses to sit on. One part of this text that caught my attention was that they found a rock. I’m not sure how many rocks were there around them, there may have been some rocks, but no other rock will do the job right, except a rock big enough for Moses to sit upon.
As I think of that useful rock, I think that if I want to be useful, I need to be a rock big enough to help other people rest while they do the hard part of the job. Be a rock of comfort and encouragement to help others continue doing their part in this warfare against the devil and his angels.
