Colossians 3:14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. (NIV)
We all have heard this phrase, “Take it or leave it,” whether our parents told us or we told our kids. We have heard this phrase more than once. I was never a picky eater, but I know some people who are. Some of the guys I eat lunch with will go to the same restaurant and order the same thing. When I visit my parents in Mexico, my sisters cook the same meals all the time, because we don’t have it often and those meals are what I like. So, when our kids complain about the food, we now know where they get it.
In our life, we are going to be offered choices. When we are looking for a job, we can choose to apply for a job or not depending on what we need. At a school, students can choose to apply depending if they offer what they are looking for.
Should church be the same way? More specifically, should our congregation? Do we have what they are looking for? Are we offering what they need? Or do we have the attitude of take us or leave us. I believe people come to visit because they have a need, and it’s not fulfilled anywhere, so they are looking. Hopefully they can see that we are willing to help in their need, and that we are willing to help them get close to God and Jesus.
