Philippians 3:13 Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
As a kid I used to ride the bus to go visit my relatives. I always wondered, “Is there an end of that road?” I always wondered what was beyond the road? The day I found out where it lead, I couldn’t wait to go see what was out there and all I could think about was, when will I get to visit there. As I look back, I think of all the things that I do and wonder, is this the best I can do? Is this the end of the road for me? Do I have something else to offer?
I’m reminded of the words of Paul in Philippians 3. We have to keep moving forward. We have to look ahead although we may not know what is ahead. Our road in our Christian walk doesn’t end. We continue on unto eternity. We should never think that we are done with our walk. Coming to Sunday service is not the end of how we live or serve God in a week. On the contrary it is the beginning. Sunday is where we pick what road we are going to take that week. Never stop walking towards God.
