And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. (Romans 12:2 NAU)
“Do not be conformed…” – shaped, molded, to be guided by.
“To this world” – the world, or more specifically, age in which we live.
“But be transformed” – the word is metamorphosis, like a caterpillar to a butterfly—change.
“By the renewal of your mind”—change the essential form or nature of something, spiritually new and different.
“So that you may prove” – test, examine—what the will of God is—what God desires to be done and His purpose. His will which is good (upright, worthy), acceptable (well pleasing), and perfect (complete).
We change and renew our mind by conforming to the will of God.
