Genesis 2:15 “The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.” (NIV)
It is interesting that when God created man, he put him in the garden and gave him everything that he could ever need! And yet, he said to him “work and take care of it.” Is it possible that God intended for us to take care of the things he created? In order to do that it requires work. God worked six days and rested on the seventh. God asked Adam to work in His garden. God called Elisha when he was working. God called Gedeon when he was working. Jesus called Peter and John while they were still at work. Do you see that God has used people to change their worlds when they were working.
I believe that God wants us to work and He wants us to teach our kids to work. There is nothing wrong with getting tired from work. We need to teach them that work is something that is expected, not something that we regret. I understand that sometimes we may not like our jobs, or we may not be happy at the moment. But we need to tell our kids that regardless of how we feel, we still need to work. We need to teach them to work to help their families and other families. They need to work because there is a reward from it. They need to work because God expects them to. Work at home. Work at the church. Wherever you are, WORK.
