Proverbs 26:4-5 Do not answer a fool according to his folly, or you will also be like him. 5 Answer a fool as his folly deserves, that he not be wise in his own eyes. (NASB)
When the serpent talked to Eve in Genesis, the serpent was crafty and knew how to twist what God had said in order to deceive Eve. The serpent knew what God’s command was, but it twisted the command to make Eve desire more. Then the serpent used Eve’s words to confuse her about God’s command. By the time Eve ate of the fruit, she thought she would be okay enjoying the fruit and still be in good standing with God.
What I see today in our world, is that people are confused about what God has said and what they need to do. People don’t understand the difference between a command from God or command from man. For that matter, they can’t see the difference between what God says and what the world says. What people need to understand is that the world is going to tell us what they want us to do, and that it’s okay even if it is contrary to God’s command. Satan will twist what God has said and make you believe you are not doing anything wrong. We must learn to never listen to what the world tells us is right or wrong. We must let God tell us what is right and wrong.
