Genesis 4:7-8 If you do well, will not your countenance be lifted up? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door; and its desire is for you, but you must master it.” 8 Cain told Abel his brother. And it came about when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother and killed him. (NASB)
We need to understand how sin works. Sin is inside of us, because we have been exposed to it. Sin creates a desire to do what the flesh wants. The more we think about a certain sin, the more we want to do it, and eventually it takes hold of us and won’t let go. If we don’t keep ourselves in check, we will act upon it. Cain’s sin wasn’t unforgiveable, but he made it personal. He took his brother alone and acted upon what he set his mind to do.
We need to be careful about what we think, and what we tell ourselves we are going to do. We must master our thoughts. We must master our thinking. Sin doesn’t start in our thoughts; it was put there by what we see and hear and feel. Just like the virus going around, we don’t know who is contagious or who is not. We just have to be careful and take all precautions to not get exposed. It’s up to you to wear a mask, wash your hands, take your vitamins and keep your distance. With sin, we must act the same way. Wear the armor of God, wash the sins away, read the word of God and stay away from all forms of sin.
