And he said, “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return. The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.” (Job 1:21 ESV)
Those words spoken by Job need to be pondered by all of us.
We came into this world with nothing and we will leave with nothing . God, the giver of all things, has the power and right to give and take as he sees best. He has provided for us all things necessary for life, both here and eternally. He desires for us, like Job, to come to completely trust him, listen to him and be guided by him.
This may not seem to be connected at all, but it is in my feeble brain. Have you ever wondered where Jesus got his clothes after the resurrection?
When he was before Pilate, the soldiers took off his clothes and put a robe on him. After being presented to the mob, the robe was taken off and his clothes put back on him.
His clothes were again removed when he was crucified and divided among the soldiers. His under garmet was not divided but the soldiers cast lots for it.
He was buried in strips of linen cloth dipped in various spices.
When he was raised, the strips of linen cloth remained in the tomb just as they were placed there, but there was no longer a body in them. He was raised from the dead!
In all of his appearances nothing is said regarding any unusual appearance of his clothing. The angels at the tomb are said to be dressed in brilliant white robes. But that is not said about him.
Did the angels bring his clothing? Was it simply provided by God? Revelation describes those belonging to God being given white robes.
Just some random thoughts about God providing for us.
