Do you ever confuse the words principle and principal?
Principle – a:a comprehensive and fundamental law, doctrine, or assumption b (1) : a rule or code of conduct
Principal—most important, consequential, or influential : chief the principal ingredient, the region’s principal city
Let’s consider the word “principle”. What is the comprehensive and fundamental law? Jesus was asked that question. His answer? “Love the Lord your God with all of your heart, soul, mind and strength. The second is love your neighbor as yourself.”
Jesus said on these two commandments hang all of the laws and commandments.
So here is the question, do we live by principle or by the whim, feeling of the moment?
Jesus stated the principle of his very principled life when he said, “I came to do my Father’s will.”
We often state the same thing as the principle upon which our life is based. Is it? Will I choose honoring God and serving him over my own life? Will I choose following Him over even living?
How do I know? It starts with the little things. Am I honest when honesty is going to hurt me? Am I fair when being fair will hurt my interest? Do I search for God’s will instead of satisfying my own?
Do I live by principle?
