I want to quote from an article written by Cecil May, Jr. from his “Preacher Talk” newsletter.
“Atheists often ridicule Christians’ hope of heaven as ‘pie in the sky, by and by.’ Robert Ingersoll, famous atheistic speaker, who went about the country, speaking against God, the Bible and Christianity, said, ‘The time to be happy is now, the place to be happy is here, the way to be happy is to make other people happy.’ The last sentence of that, of course, is straight from Christ and the Bible.”
Now consider this quotation:
But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.
(James 3:17 NIV)
Everything mentioned in that verse is what the world wants us to be toward each other. But the wisdom to obtain those things is from heaven.
One thing I have seen in my life over and over is that God is right. His way is right. To follow his way may not remove difficulty and hardship, but it is always the best way to be and to walk. Therefore, it has stopped being a surprise to me, that when people begin to think honestly and fairly about things, they eventually come to where God said to be all along.
God is right. Learn to trust him.
