Hebrews 2:1 We must pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.
I love this book. I love how it encourages us to pay attention to things that are important. I love how the writer uses the Old Testament passages to show us that God’s plan was to redeem us back to Him through Christ. I love the fact that this book has the heroes of faith in Chapter 11. One of things I love as well is that he is straight forward when something is important. He goes straight to the point and lets you know what needs to be done.
In this verse if we read the sentence backwards it will tell us something extremely important. If we don’t want to drift away and be the type of people not fit for the kingdom; we must pay attention to what has been said. We don’t want to be the lukewarm Christian. If you read it again, then we must pay “careful” attention to what we have heard.
When our preacher gets into the pulpit, we must pay careful attention because he is preaching and teaching from God’s word. The writer of Hebrews lets us know, that we need to have a heart that is willing to listen if we don’t want to drift away from the Lord. My encouragement is that we follow those instructions.
