Revelation 21:7-8: “He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son. But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.” (NASB)
What’s the opposite of overcome? Fail, forfeit, lose, give in. Sometimes for me to understand a concept, it’s necessary to understand the opposite. What’s the opposite of coward? Brave, courageous. These two concepts are necessary to understand when we are Christians, because we either are one or the other. This is an area of our lives that needs to be black and white. There’s no middle ground. There is no Christian who should be in the middle. We need to have the courage to overcome this world. We need to have the strength to stand for the faith that we have believed. Put it in your mind that you will not fail in your walk. Set your mind that you will not give in! What awaits us in heaven is far better than anything in this world.
