Recently, a mom sat her children down at the dining room table for a treat. The kids had been extra good that day so they got one of their favorite snacks – Doritos! Mom counted out ten Doritos for the daughter and then ten Doritos for her son. In the son’s haste to enjoy his new found favor, he knocked the plate off the table and onto the floor. His Doritos were gone! The boy looked at his sister hoping she might now share her bounty. The sister, with her arm moving out, started forming the great wall of China around around her plate to keep her brother away. The mom encouraged her daughter to just share one or two of her Doritos. The daughter put up a fight to keep what was hers. Even with the Mom standing behind the little girl waving this big bag of Doritos just itching to give her so much more if only she would share, the little girl could only think of keeping these ten Doritos to herself.

This is a true story as told by one of our parents this past Sunday in Bible class. This story has so much to say about us. It is a true story of us as God’s children. We have a Heavenly Father who is standing over us waving a bag of Doritos as we cling to the little bit that we have on this earth.

My prayer for us this week is that we can keep our eyes focused on the One who is able to give us immeasurably more than we can imagine. My prayer is that we worship the One who has built for us a mansion over the hilltop. My prayer is that we strive to obey the One who will give us a crown of glory that will never fade away.
