Hebrews 10:24-25 “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” (NIV)
I usually mark my calendar each year with things that are important. I will write down birthdays, anniversaries and special events. I will mark things that are special to me. This year I added something new. One of my goals this year is for my kids to see that church is a priority for me. I already marked events that we have on our church calendar. I marked dates for VBS, Anniversary Sunday, my kids’ youth activities, men’s prayer breakfasts and family time group meetings. It took a little bit of time, but I know that when my kids see me making that a priority, they will understand that church is important for me.
Brother Frank Wampol said something that resounded strong with me last weekend during the parenting panel on Saturday, “Kids are better imitators than they are listeners.” My children will imitate what I do. I have to make sure what they imitate is good and right and brings glory to God. As we are already two months into the new year, I still have time to make this is a good theme for me and our family. Church is priority in my life, but I can’t just tell them that, I have to show them.
