What would be the opposite of love? Several words come to mind, but what about pride?
Think about it in comparison to Paul’s description of love.
Love is:
Patient, kind, does not envy, does not boast, is not proud, does not dishonor others, is not self-seeking, is not easily angered, keeps no record of wrongs, does not delight in evil, rejoices with the truth, love protects, trusts, hopes and perseveres.
Does pride fit as the opposite?
Pride is:
Impatient with those who differ, unkind to those who disagree, envious of those placed ahead of them, boastful, pride is proud, dishonors others, seeks self above all else, easily angered when not getting its way, keeps a record of all wrongs, delights in evil done to others, rejoices in personal advancement regardless of truth, protects, trusts, hopes and perseveres in what causes personal advancement.
It is no wonder that God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble.
