Life is hard, and we have all been slapped around from time to time by life’s hard hits. The question is, What do we do about it? Do we respond or react?
Lately I have been reading a handwritten book that my mom gave me before I went to college. I’ve shared some of the wisdom in this book before, and it is time to share some more. I always want to respond well to life and people. Sometimes I succeed. Sometimes I fail. I don’t ever want to be a reactor. They just get messy….very messy. Sometimes I succeed. Sometimes I fail. Hopefully the following words will help.
Never waste an opportunity to tell someone you love them.
Be there when people need you.
Do more than is expected.
Never underestimate the power of a kind word or deed.
Don’t allow self-pity. The moment this emotion strikes, do something nice for someone less fortunate than you.
Take care of your reputation. It is your most valuable asset.
Be enthusiastic about the success of others.
Do not be afraid to say,
“I don’t know.”
“I made a mistake.”
“I need help.”
“I’m sorry.”
12 So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets. (Matthew 7:12 NIV)
