Matthew 7:21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. (NASB)
When working in a garden, there are things you have to deal with; weeds, bugs and squirrels. This means that pretty much everyday you have to pay attention to your plants. These things can kill your plants especially when they start to grow. In fact, some worms can kill your plants before they even start to produce veggies. This is something that needs attention everyday.
You see, bugs will try to eat the leaves which absorb light and are important for growth. The weeds will fight for water and will grow twice as fast as the plant. The squirrels and other small critters will try to eat the fruit produced. In the same manner, if we are not careful our spiritual growth can stop and in fact get killed before it starts to grow, especially on new Christians.
We need to be careful of these things. In our spiritual walk we will encounter these things in the form of the worm of complacency, the weeds of materialism and the squirrels of sin. These things will make us unproductive. We will be fruitless the rest of our lives if we don’t eliminate these things from our lives. Attending church is not enough. We have to get close to God, to the light, and to the water of life. If we want to grow and produce fruit we need to get closer to Jesus and far away from the world.
