We all need it. Some who are reading this are smart enough to give it. We all need investment advise. Almost everyone has a 401K, or a retirement plan or even a brokerage account that invests in stocks, bonds, mutual funds, or cd’s. I know for me, the question in my mind always is am I investing the right way.  My goal is to put a little away each month, invest it properly as to get the best return on my money.  And then hopefully years later, if I have made the right investments, my savings will have grown into something much bigger.

As I think about relating this to the Lord’s Church, there are so many similarities. We need investment advise in the Church as well. Not necessarily in a monetary way, but a spiritual way.  Our goal in the Church is to give of our talents each day, to invest our talents. Our prayer is that whatever our hands find to do, we do it with all of our might.  Our prayer is that whatever seeds we plant that our Lord will give the increase.  So that years later much fruit may be harvested.

The investment advise that I would like for us to consider today is Proverbs 22:6 –

“Train up a child in the way that he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

At RCOC we are blessed with so many talented and willing volunteers that put in endless hours to plant those seeds.

But today I would like to ask something specific. I would like to ask husband and wife teams to teach more of our kids classes, especially in the the 3rd through 6th grade classes.  We need you. Even if your kids are already grown and gone, we need you. Would you consider using your talents for this group of impressionable kids? May God Bless our efforts as we strive to serve Him.

Welcome To Spring

I know, you’re ready for the pollen to go away. But isn’t it a beautiful time of year. Did you catch the equinox? It occurred on Monday, March 20. You can even check out the exact time. Four times every year we know the dates for the precise movement of the sun, or to...

John 3:16

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16 ESV) “For God” - The only God, all-powerful, all knowing, without beginning or end, Creator of all things. “So loved” - More than...

Wisteria

I find myself captivated by Wisteria every year at this time. Partly because it was Cathy’s favorite spring time flower. She really like the purple blooms. But we never planted any and neither does Jane have any interest in planting Wisteria. The opening words of an...

Got A Question?

Do you have a question you would love to ask Jesus? What would it be? He was certainly asked a lot of questions. Like the one Peter asked about the future of his fellow apostle, John. Jesus’ answer? “What is that to you? Be faithful to me.” He didn’t always give an...

After God’s Own Heart

David, King of Israel, was described as a man after God’s own heart. I can imagine other biblical characters who would fall under the same category. What about us? Can we come close to that kind of heart? How did David get there? From his childhood he had a deep and...

Groundhog Day

14 And God said, "Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night. And let them be for signs and for seasons, and for days and years, 15 and let them be lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light upon the earth." And it was...

Provided

And he said, "Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked shall I return. The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD." (Job 1:21 ESV) Those words spoken by Job need to be pondered by all of us. We came into this world with nothing...

Some Wisdom for the Day

When the righteous increase, the people rejoice, but when the wicked rule, the people groan. (Prov. 29:2 ESV) One's pride will bring him low, but he who is lowly in spirit will obtain honor. (Prov. 29:23 ESV) Scoffers set a city aflame, but the wise turn away wrath....

In Him

In Christ we have every spiritual blessing heaven has to offer. It was God’s choice even before he created the world to choose those who are in Christ to be his chosen people. In Christ we are considered holy and blameless before God. In Christ we are adopted as God’s...

It Is Written

It may have been about 2005 when we moved into our current subdivision. Our house was one of the first houses built in our area of the subdivision. I’m not trying to offer that as an excuse for what happened, but then again, I may be. Entering our subdivision the...
