Matthew 14:30 But seeing the wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, “Lord, save me!” 31 Immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and took hold of him, and *said to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?” (NASB)
The story we find in Matthew 14:22-36 is when Jesus walked on water. I am very scared and traumatized of water. As a young kid I had no guidance nor did I know anything about water safety. I almost drowned a couple of times. Then as a teenager I thought I would try again, but I miscalculated the depth of the water. It was deeper than I thought, and when I thought I would take my last breath, a friend jumped in got under me and pushed me up. So, when I go swimming, I don’t swim. I stay close where I have sure footing. When I read this story in Matthew, I know what is like to feel like drowning. I can relate with Peter knowing that you are sure about something, but then it’s not what you expected. I feel the same way about this life. I have a plan for things I want to do and things I can enjoy, but things change. The unexpected happens and it feels like the drowning starts again. When this happens, trust in God! Jesus was not going to let Peter drown; He had plans for him. God is not going to let you drown in this life. Grab his hand, and don’t let go. God has a plan for your life, and while you are living, there is still time to do His will in your life. Trust Him and have faith!
