In the office is a popcorn machine. There is something about the smell of popcorn that draws the vast majority of the human race directly to it. I’ve also known some animals that love popcorn, too.
When the popcorn is popping and the smell penetrates throughout the building, it is amazing how many friends come to fill up their bag. The popcorn maker doesn’t even have to announce, “HEY, I’m making popcorn!!! I’ll let you know when it’s ready!!!”
Anyone within a half mile radius KNOWS it is ready to eat. Maybe a 1/2 mile is a bit exaggerated, but I hope the point is OBVIOUS.
The aroma tells the story.
The aroma draws others to it.
The aroma represents.
God says it like this…14 But thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ’s triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of him everywhere. 15 For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing. 16 To the one we are an aroma that brings death; to the other, an aroma that brings life. And who is equal to such a task? 17 Unlike so many, we do not peddle the word of God for profit. On the contrary, in Christ we speak before God with sincerity, as those sent from God.
(2Co 2:14-17 NIV)
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. (Mat 5:6 NIV)
We get to choose each day that God gives us, to live whom we represent. Choose HIM. Be HIS pleasing aroma.
