1 Thessalonians 4:13, “But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope.”
It is inevitable we will all die. We don’t know where or when but we will all pass through this dreaded gate. We try to postpone walking through it and sometimes we ignore that the gate is there but eventually it will be the only gate we can pass through. As bad as that seems, for us who believe Jesus, this is not a bad thing.
The Holy Spirit knew this, and in order to comfort us, he gives us these magnificent words from Paul. We have hope! This is not the end for us, our earthly bodies end up on the ground but our spirit lives on. This is information that we need to know, this is information that we need to pass along, this is information that we need to share. Our God is a God of the living! We will see each other again, it may just take a bit longer, but we will see each other. Let’s make sure that we pass that message to our loved one. Our hope is built in nothing less but Jesus’ blood and righteousness.
