2 Corinthians 10:5 “We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ…”
I recently attended a great conference in which many lessons were taught. One of the series that caught my attention was on better parenting. I have struggled to be a good parent and still today there are things that I need to learn as everyday is different, as kids grow older. I learned that there are some things that we need to make a habit instead of just one-time event. In the next weeks, my articles are going to be focused on these activities that we need to do day to day, that will form healthy habits. My hope is that these healthy habits will be passed on to our children and grandchildren.
Teach them to guard their minds. Every day your children will see things that are not appropriate. They will hear things that are not appropriate. Everyday we are exposed to the evils of this world. Teach them to not think and dwell on those things that are evil. Paul is talking to a Corinthian church who were exposed to all kinds of evil. Therefore their children were exposed to all kinds of evil. Your family time should revolve around things that build good morals. Television and movies are not a substitute for family time. With every commercial, with every word of profanity and sensuality our kids are being taught how to be worldly. Instead, teach them to not think on those things, but teach them the difference between how a Christian should act and how the world acts. Show them the value of how to take every thought captive.
