Romans 15:4 (NASB)
“For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, so that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.”
This is a great text for adult mature Christians, but also is a great text for young learners. Almost anything that we buy now comes with instructions. They teach us how to use their products. Even little baby items such as binkies and baby bottles come with instructions, but the instructions are not for the babies… the instructions are for the new parents. If you are a new Christian or if you didn’t grow up in a church, the Bible is our instruction book for Christian living. It’s the book of instructions on how to get closer to God and how we can get to where He lives.
The scriptures give us hope and encouragement. Some people have loved the Bible so much that they have written hymns about it. The Bible will guide us all the way through this life and prepare us for our eternal home. Whenever I am discouraged or seem to lose hope, give me the Bible.
