Finish

Resilient
(of a person or animal) able to withstand or recover quickly from difficult conditions.
(of a substance or object) able to recoil or spring back into shape after bending, stretching, or being compressed.

Finish
(intransitive verb) – to come to the end of a course, task, or undertaking.
(transitive verb) to bring to completion.

To finish. To be resilient. These are two key words often used today in a sporting context, but they were key words of scripture long before any of our current sports ever existed.

The writer of Hebrews wrote these words of encouragement to those having a difficult time overcoming the sins in their lives:
You have not yet resisted to the point of shedding blood in your striving against sin; (Heb. 12:4)
In other words, “You are not dead yet”.

Regarding finishing, these words:
“It is finished”, Jesus said on the cross when his work was accomplished.
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith; in the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing. (2 Tim. 4:7-8)
