Jesus said, “Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.” – Matthew 18:3
With having five kids in our family there is never a shortage of funny statements going around. One morning when Maria was about 6 years old, she came to us very upset and crying. She had prayed the night before that God would make her American Doll alive and into a real girl. Her prayer was simple yet powerful because she truly believed that God would grant her wish. Although we grow to maturity in asking according to God’s will, we can learn to ask God with the same expectation and have that kind of faith like a child.
Jesus gave us the perfect example of how we should accept Him through faith. Children don’t rely on great intellect, complex theology or vast expanding volumes of knowledge. Children have the ability to accept God and believe Him at His Word. This is why God instructs His people to constantly be speaking about the Scriptures to children throughout the whole day every day to impress that Word on their heart.
When we break down our stubborn adult pride, lean on the promises of Jesus like a child we can experience the joy He provides in the kingdom of God on earth and eternally in heaven. What are ways you can turn and become more child-like in your faith?
