Jeremiah 5:23-24
23 ‘But this people has a stubborn and rebellious heart; They have turned aside and departed. 24 ‘They do not say in their heart,“ let us now fear the Lord our God, who gives rain in its season, both the autumn rain and the spring rain, who keeps for us the appointed weeks of the harvest.” (NASB)
What a beautiful rain we have been enjoying these last few days. It seems like our thoughts are far from the drought we have had over the last few months. After being damp all day and getting stuck in traffic in the middle of this rain, it seems the drought is long gone. Let’s not forget that although we are receiving rain, the land still needs to absorb it. This is true of God’s message to all of us as well.
We hear the Bible preached every Sunday and sometimes Wednesday and sometimes everyday of the week. But the Word of God needs to be absorbed by us to produce the fruit. We need to be immersed in the word of God and ready to absorb it so that we can share it with others. We cannot share what we do not know. As you see this rain, remember that God sends his blessings expecting a harvest.
