Luke 13: 10-13 And He was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath. And there was a woman who for eighteen years had had a sickness caused by a spirit; and she was bent double, and could not straighten up at all. When Jesus saw her, He called her over and said to her, “Woman, you are freed from your sickness.” And He laid His hands on her; and immediately she was made erect again and began glorifying God. Do you get tired of looking at the same thing all the time? How often do you look in different directions when you are walking? Imagine having to look in the same direction all the time. This poor woman used to look at dirt all day for 18 years. All the dust from people walking, all the gravel that may have went into her eyes and all those times that she couldn’t look up, must have been embarrassing. Jesus sees this woman and asks her if she wants to be cured and be set free from the demon who did this to her. She answered yes!
Despite being the Sabbath day, Jesus healed this poor woman. Jesus knew that some people were going to be upset. He knew that some were going to be vocal about it, and they were going to confront him and hate him for it. Knowing all that, Jesus still healed this woman. We need to learn that there’s no wrong day to do good! We need to learn that when there’s an opportunity to do right, we need to do it! It doesn’t matter if some people don’t like it, it doesn’t matter if you may get criticized, do what is right!
