Our new little blessing, Sara, was born November 9, 2017. Today I’m thinking about the things that God says relation to children, babies and our relationship to Him. Here are a few that have come to mind.
2 Corinthians 2:17: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” We are made new in Christ. This isn’t just “some” or “a few” ANYONE IN CHRIST is a new creation.
Matthew 19:13-15: “Then children were brought to him that he might lay his hands on them and pray. The disciples rebuked the people, but Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” And he laid his hands on them and went away.” Jesus wants us to know that we need to accept Him like a child and that children are a blessing, not a distraction.
Matthew 21:15-16: “But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying out in the temple, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” they were indignant, and they said to him, “Do you hear what these are saying?” And Jesus said to them, “Yes; have you never read,
‘Out of the mouth of infants and nursing babies you have prepared praise’?” Have you ever heard a child signing at the top of their lungs in worship service? I’m not talking about silly goofy noises to get attention, but genuine praise doing exactly what the Creator made us to do… to praise Him. That is a beautiful noise!
Hebrews 5:12-14, 6:1: “For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the basic principles of the oracles of God. You need milk, not solid food, for everyone who lives on milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, since he is a child. But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil. Therefore let us leave the elementary doctrine of Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God”. Although we are to be like a child, we must grow in faith and maturity in God’s word.
