In James 1 we find this verse:
“If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person’s religion is worthless. Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.”
Bridling our Tongues is something that is not as easy as it sounds. Especially in a day and age where we can post things to social media or simply like or share things from social media that sound good in the moment, but may stir up controversy. I think it is our responsibility as Christians to make sure we are not “stained ” by this world. I think that means that we are not caught up in the things that our culture, our media, and our politics tells us are important. As we come towards the holiday season there will be opportunities to serve widows, orphans, and all the less fortunate around us. Let’s show the world the love of Christ!
