My latest fortune cookie said this, “Contentment is just around the corner, wait for it.”
Compare to the following:
“be content with your wages” (Luk 3:14 NAU)
“I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am” (Phi 4:11 NAU)
“Make sure that your character is free from the love of money, being content with what you have” (Heb 13:5 NAU)
God never tells us to wait for contentment. It is not something coming to us around the next corner.
Instead, we are told contentment is something we are to be.
It is something we are to learn to be.
It is something we are to make sure is part of our character.
To many look for the blessing of a faithful life to come to them from around the next corner. A faithful life is not to be waited for, it is to be lived. Too many want a blessing from others rather than being a blessing to others.
Let’s get up and live for Him.
