1 Peter 5:7 “casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.” (NASB)
Many people suffer from mental health disorders. Anxiety is one of the major disorders. When people talk to me about their anxiety problems, they feel ashamed to feel that way. They feel less for having that problem, they feel like they are bad Christians. They are NOT any of that! We all have those moments. That’s why Jesus addressed it when he told his disciples to NOT WORRY. Keep walking, keep following Jesus, keep on keeping on.
There are many ways to minister to people with mental disorders. You don’t have to be a doctor to make a difference. Most of the time the people with the disorders are already seeing a professional. Be a friend, be a brother, be a sister. Check on them and call them to let them know you are thinking about them. And always remember that when you minister to someone always do two things that make a difference. Point them back to trust in Jesus and pray with them. One more thing you can do to follow up, is to have a prayer every day for all those who are suffering from mental disorders, include their families and caregivers.
