105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
106 I have sworn an oath and confirmed it, to keep your righteous rules.
(Psalms 119:105-106 ESV)
Everyone who goes on ahead and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God. Whoever abides in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.
(2 John 1:9 ESV)
But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. (Galatians 1:8 ESV)
Three warnings given in scripture. Similar warnings are repeated through out scripture.
God’s word has been delivered one time for all time (Jude 1:3).
We know the warnings, yet we are continually surrounded by attempts to turn us away from what God has spoken.
A trusted friend may tell us something they feel God has revealed to them, but it is not in keeping with God’s word.
We may have a strong feeling about something we think we should do or not do which is contrary to God’s word.
His word is to be the lamp to our feet, not our own thoughts, feelings nor desires.
