Paul begins Romans by describing the things that moved man away from God and into the darkness of sin that grips all of humanity.
Those things are summed up in these words, “They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served the created things rather than the Creator – who is forever praised.” (Romans 1:25)
In moving away from the truth about God, they moved away from truth.
Personal opinion becomes more important than truth.
Personal reputation becomes more important than truth.
Personal desire becomes more important than truth.
“I” becomes more important than anything.
The agenda becomes more important than truth.
Truth is no longer something outside of me. It is me and what I think and believe.
I have removed God from my thinking and replaced Him with myself, the created thing. This life is mine. I will do with it as I please. I answer to no one. I have believed the lie and if I do not wake up to the truth, I am destroyed.
“Grace and truth were realized through Jesus Christ. (Jn. 1:17)
