The book of James tells us to control our tongue, and Jesus tells us in the Gospels to be careful about what we say and how we say it. The Bible also addresses an important part of our lives, and that is to be careful about what we think. We are influenced by everything we see and hear, and on many occasions, we form an opinion based on those words or images. We tend to believe what we hear and see because we allow those ideas to be part of us.
Solomon teaches us that what we allow ourselves think and dwell upon is who we will become. So, the next time someone offends you, you will do what you had in your mind to do. When someone acts a certain way, what you told your mind to do is how you will respond in action. God wants us to think on things that are pure and noble and good. There’s a reason why God wants us to be careful about what we think, because what we do reflects upon His character and what He meant for us to be. Let’s honor God with our thoughts.
Jesus died for all. We must love all.
Proverbs 23:7: “For as he thinks within himself, so he is. He says to you, “Eat and drink!” But his heart is not with you.”
